o sensitize the children to become the crusaders for environmental conservation, Open Sky
organised the ‘Earth Day Celebration’ on Friday, 21.04.23.
Various activities were organised through the week beginning from 17.04.23 to mark the celebration.
Students made paper bags, posters, badges, re-used newspapers to make display boards, wings,
planted saplings.
A special Ayurveda workshop on “Principles of Healthy living” by Dr. Harshita Sethi was organised
on 17th April,23 for the students to make them aware about value of medicinal plants and their
appropriate use.
To begin with the celebrations on 21st April,23, students marched off a rally in sector 5 and raised
slogans to create awareness among others. Dr. Sonu Sharma, Chairperson Open Sky, flagged off
the rally. Cloth bags made by the mothers of our students during the “Community Building”
programme were distributed to the people in sector 5, and paper bags made by students in their
classes were distributed to shopkeepers near Sheetla Mata Mandir. The rally culminated with an
oath taking ceremony, in which Open Skiites took an oath to save the environment. The mothers
who were a part of our community building program were felicitated by the Chairperson maam.
Later, a cultural programme which included dances, skit, nukkad natak was presented by the
students showcasing the theme “Invest in our planet”. A group of senior students allured the day by
presenting a theme-based nukkad natak at Government girls middle school and Government Boys
Sr. Secondary school , Gurgaon village.
The enthusiasm of young scholars of Nursery and K.G was worth watching when they participated
in “planting” and “watering the plants” activities a day prior i.e on Thursday, 20.04.23.
The day was a reminder for mankind to protect and safeguard the planet
