Janmashtami Celebration

The mind acts like an enemy for those who cannot control it” - Lord Krishna, Bhagavad Gita

The auspicious occasion of Janmashtami was celebrated with a glorious performances by tiny tots of Open Sky, sector 5, Gurugram on 23rd August 2024. The students of class prep presented a role play as they dressed up as various characters of Krishna Lila. Thereafter, the students of Kinder Garten presented a ramp walk on euphonious melodies of several songs

The Chairperson addressed the students and reminded everyone that festivals are not only about the culture, but also about togetherness and building bonds with the people. A spellbound dance performance depicting Krishna and Radha was performed by the students of class II.

It was a beautiful way to remember the glory of Lord Krishna, and the relevance of his wisdom even in present times.

Investiture Ceremony

A school council provides platform to the pupils in a meaningful way in which many aspects of school life impact one's development in a positive way. Open Sky celebrated Investiture Ceremony for the academic session 2024- 25 to induct newly elected members of the student council.  The students dressed in their resplendent house colors added to the grandeur of the event. The elected leaders were conferred with badges and sashes. Donning the mantle of accountability, the newly invested office - bearers also pledged to bestow their duties to the best of their abilities. The newly elected Head Boy Saksham Gupta and the Head Girl Ipshita Narang delivered impactful speeches outlining their goals and plans for the upcoming academic year. They also expressed their commitment to serve the student body by fostering a positive and inclusive environment. The outgoing Head girl Haniya Tripathi and Head boy Shivam Jha shared their experience of learning.

 Mrs. Asha Sharma, President Open Sky, in her address blessed the newly elected young leaders and motivated them to set new examples of good leadership. She lauded their leadership abilities and urged them to become a role model for their peers.

Teacher's Day Celebration

Open Sky School celebrated Teachers' Day with heartfelt gratitude and joy on 5th Sep 2024. The students dressed as their favourite teachers which created an atmosphere filled with excitement and appreciation. A unique student-teacher role reversal allowed students to take classes, offering a playful yet meaningful tribute to their mentors. Students expressed their gratitude through heartfelt performances, while fun games added joy and humour making it a memorable tribute to the teachers' invaluable role.

To further celebrate their educators, the school management arranged a delightful lunch, allowing teachers to relax and socialize with each other outside the classroom setting.

Tete -a- Tete with Dr. Kannan Gireesh

School workshops are designed to provide information, tools and skills development activities to help students succeed in academics and excelling in life there after academics. A workshop was conducted on 30.08.24 by Dr. Kannan Gireesh, the founder of LiveLife Education. He is  a well-known psychiatrist, a visionary education reformer, and a successful entrepreneur who is credited with introducing a proven model of social-emotional traveled learning to Indian students.

The students of class IX and X benefitted from the workshop. Dr. Kannan discussed the strategies and techniques to foster a positive learning attitude, leading to excellent academic performance among students. Practical aspects of executing  the 4R’s of learning – READ, RECALL, REVISE and REPRODUCE were discussed in detail. Students learnt that learning is never done without errors and defeat but our continuous efforts make us win for sure.

 

Independence Day Celebration

Open Sky School celebrated India’s 78th Independence Day on August 14, 2024, with great patriotic fervor during a special event titled “Nehru – The Man of Peace.” The celebration united students, faculty, and staff in a heartfelt expression of national pride, with the campus beautifully decorated in the colors of saffron, white, and green, reflecting the spirit of freedom.

The festivities began in the early morning, featuring Chief Guest Mrs. Asha Sharma, President of the SDAV Society. This year, the focus was on honoring Jawaharlal Nehru, a visionary leader who played a vital role in shaping the nation. Students presented an engaging program that showcased Nehru’s ideals of unity, progress, and dedication, making the event both inspiring and memorable.

As part of the "Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat" initiative, an inter-house quiz competition was held for the primary wing, highlighting the paired states of Haryana and Manipur. Vajpayee House claimed first place, followed by Indira House in second.

In her address, Mrs. Asha Sharma stressed the importance of Independence Day and encouraged students to embrace Nehru’s principles for the nation’s growth. The day was a meaningful reminder of reflection, pride, and commitment to India’s ideals.

SAFAL Exam

From July22 to August2, Open Sky School proudly hosted the SAFAL Exam, an initiative aimed at assessing and enhancing the academic skills and critical thinking abilities of our students of grades 5 and 8. This exam aimed to foster critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a deeper understanding of the subjects covered throughout the academic year.

The Computer based(CBT) Safal Exam comprised multiple-choice questions, short answers, and problem-solving tasks, encouraging students to demonstrate their understanding and application of concepts learned throughout the year. Students were tested not only on their academic knowledge but also on their ability to think critically and creatively, which are essential skills for their future endeavors.

Learn Asia Japan Summit, 2024

Japan, the land of the rising Sun ,is the perfect amalgamation of culture steeped in ancient traditions and education which is scientific and forward looking. Our Chairperson, Dr Sonu Sharma, was one of the delegate chosen to represent SDAV group of schools in Tokyo for above summit.Japan has opened its heart to Indian students for cultural exchange and STEM streams in higher education with scholarships and internship programmes. 
Ambassador George Sibi welcomed the delegates and reiterated the same as did the Japanese education minister in world renowned Tokyo University .Time to look East and overcome the language barrier to avail this wonderful opportunity!!

Vaccination Camp by Health Department

In Association with Open Sky, Sector 5, Gurugram, The District Health Department organized a Vaccination Camp for the students of age 15 – 18 years on 22nd May’2024. It was a crucial public health initiative aimed at vaccinating students to combat the spread of communicable diseases like diphtheria, tetanus.

The vaccination drive was successful and had also created awareness among the students for getting vaccinated for various disease from time to time.

Safety Drill

In continuation with the exercise to create awareness among the students about disaster management, a mock evacuation drill involving students and teachers was conducted from classes III to X on 14th May’2024 to create awareness among the students about evacuation techniques and the ways to respond swiftly in times of any emergency situation.

The mock drill was carried out in the school to prepare students and teachers for any such eventuality.  The purpose to organize the mock drill was to check the readiness of the school to face any such emergency and also to make the students and staff aware about the exit plan to be followed in emergency and to mitigate panic and timely evacuation.

A group of teachers and student volunteers armed with necessary things required for rescue operations positioned themselves at vantage points to guide and assist the students in the mock evacuation drill.  The students were escorted by their subject teachers to the school ground after the bell alarm.  Once all had assembled on the ground, they were advised not to panic in case of any disaster.  They were instructed to be with teachers at the time of disaster and follow the instructions given to them by their teachers.

The “evacuation” operation began immediately after the alarm alerted the students.  The students were immediately evacuated from their classrooms and asked to gather at the designated areas.  Keeping all the safety measures, the entire building was successfully evacuated within 3.5 minutes.

Donation Drive

“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give”.

The power to better the lives of others, is considered a privilege. It comes with a feeling of contentment and gratitude as well. On the occasion of the Earth Day’2024, Open Sky also took the initiative to organize a  “Donation Drive” to cater to the needs of those in position of necessity.

 

The primary objective of organizing the Donation Drive was to help bridge the gap between people who are willing to aid the less fortunate and those in positions of necessity and teach the students the importance of RETHINK and REUSE. An organized donation drive was a great way to share our relative affluence with people in need. To make this campaign a success, Open Sky joined hands with two different NGOs -  Maxvision Social Welfare Society, Gurugram and Gramin Vikas Samiti, Gurugram. Our Chief guest Mrs. Asha Sharma, Guest of Honor Dr. Sonu Sharma appreciated the students for their generous donation.

 

Starting on April 15th , the campaign lasted through April 22nd . The students interested in donating were asked to donate the books, toys, clothes. Students were instructed to make sure that the donated items were in good condition and feel the JOY OF GIVING. The donated items were handed over to the NGOs.
